Your top five authors: Shakespeare, Joyce, Hemingway, Fitzgerald, P.D. James.
Book you’ve faked reading: I’m perhaps the only person of my generation who didn’t fake reading Moby Dick.
Book you’re an evangelist for: Travels with Myself and Another by Martha Gellhorn, Grizzly Years by Doug Peacock
Book you’ve bought for the cover: Never did. But would like to have hair like that Fabio guy.
Book you hid from your parents: Peyton Place…especially page 200 something, the one where…
Book that changed your life: The Sun Also Rises, Hemingway
Favorite line from a book: “I am in blood stepped in so far that should I wade no more, returning were as tedious as go o’er.” Macbeth
Five books you’ll never part with: Shakespeare––the collected works, Hemingway––The Nick Adams Stories. Robinson Jeffers––The Selected Poems, Boswell’s Life of Johnson, Canterbury Tales
Book you most want to read again for the first time: Anna Karenina. I think I was in about 8th grade. After reading the book, I realized being an adult could be very dangerous.
